Cultivation methods and precautions of ground juniper

Cultivation methods and precautions of ground juniper

1. Environment

When growing ground juniper, you need to be careful to choose a place where sunlight cannot be reflected, and you must pay attention to shade. The surrounding humidity should also be higher. It cannot withstand an environment that is too dry, and ventilation must also be done well. When growing potted plants, the general recommendation is to place the pots close to the ground. In winter, they need to be buried in the soil and can spend the winter outdoors.

2. Watering

Juniperus is a plant that likes moisture, so when growing it, you must pay attention to watering it frequently, but there must not be water accumulation, otherwise, like most other plants, its roots and rhizomes will rot. When the weather is particularly dry, not only do you need to water it, you also need to spray some water on its leaves frequently to provide it with all-round moisturizing.

3. Fertilization

When fertilizing the ground juniper, it is generally recommended to choose a thin, well-rotted organic fertilizer, usually in March in the spring or around October in the autumn. Freshwater fertilizer needs to be applied three times in each of these two periods.

4. Pruning

The time to prune the ground juniper can be chosen in spring before new branches sprout. Choose those side branches that are too long and do not need to grow and prune them shorter in time. This can reduce the competition for nutrients between these branches and the main branches and promote the healthy growth of the main branches. If you want to prune the tree, you can choose to do it during the dormant stage of the juniper.

5. Repotting

Repotting does not need to be done too frequently, once every three years is enough, and it is best to do it before budding in spring. When repotting, you can appropriately remove some old roots and old soil, and then replace them with new fertile soil. This can effectively promote the growth and development of new roots. The ground juniper will grow more vigorously and the ornamental effect will be enhanced.

6. Notes

The most important issue in the process of cultivating ground juniper is to prevent the occurrence of heavy painting. Its common disease is rust, and the main insect pest is red spider. When diseases and pests are found, we must try to control them as soon as possible. The most important measure is to choose appropriate drugs for prevention and control.

Okay, everyone has finished reading today’s introduction. Did you gain something from it? Friends who like Juniperus chinensis should take action quickly and grow one, using the method I introduced!
