Growth habits of longevity bamboo

Kalanchoe prefers an environment with plenty of sunlight. Except for a little shade at noon in midsummer, it should be placed in a sunny place at other times. It must receive at least 4 hours of direct sunlight every day to grow healthily.

The most suitable growth temperature for Kalanchoe is 15℃ to 25℃. Above 30℃, its growth will be slow and it will enter a semi-dormant state. Below 10℃, its growth will stop and below 0℃, it will easily freeze to death.

How to cultivate longevity bamboo

Temperature: A cool climate is the most suitable for the growth of longevity bamboo. In the hot summer, it is necessary to shade the longevity bamboo. Longevity bamboo has good cold resistance. It can survive the winter safely if the temperature is not lower than -7°C. If the temperature is too low, it needs to be kept warm.

Light: It is best to choose diffuse light for maintenance, and avoid strong light on windowsills and balconies. In winter when the light is not strong, it is necessary to increase the light appropriately.

Soil: Loose and fertile soil is more conducive to the growth of Kalanchoe, so the potting soil cannot be too sticky. You can choose a mixture of river sand, leaf mold, perlite and carbon slag.

Watering: Each time you water the longevity bamboo, just let the soil contain a little moisture. Even in the hot summer, do not water it too much. Just spray a little water mist on the leaves at noon. In winter, you should reduce the number of watering.

Fertilization: You can buy flower fertilizer directly at the flower shop and apply it. It is best to mix it with water when applying it. This is more conducive to the absorption of the longevity bamboo. Fertilize the longevity bamboo once every half a month. The fertilizer should mainly be organic fertilizer containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.

Things to note when growing longevity bamboo

Some diseases and insect pests often plague plants, such as "aphids" and "leaf blight". After discovering the disease, the diseased branches and leaves need to be cut off in time and sprayed with pesticides; if you encounter insect pests, you should also spray pesticides as soon as possible.

In winter, it needs to be placed in a warm place or covered with plastic film to keep warm. In summer when evaporation is particularly large, you need to spray water on the leaves frequently.
