How to plant taro

Taro is soft, sticky and sweet, and many people love to eat it. It also looks very much like the weeping angel. It can be appreciated as a flower during the growing season and eaten during the harvest season, giving you the best of both worlds. In fact, it is not difficult to grow it, you can grow it on the balcony!

Step 1

Go to the market and buy some healthy taro, plump and not rotten.

Step 2

After you buy taro, clean the dirt off the surface, place the taro horizontally in a shallow dish, add some water (the water level should not be higher than half of the taro), to lure the roots.

Step 3

Or just put it directly in the hydroponic bottle like I did. When the taro grows roots and small sprouts, you can plant it in the soil!

Step 4

When planting taro, you must choose a large and deep pot, so that the taro can grow more and larger. A 25 cm pot can only plant 2 taro at most. For the soil, just use ordinary garden soil.

Step 5

When planting, plant it vertically, and don't bury it too deep to let the sprouts come out. If you are planting unsprouted taro, don't bury it too deep, just cover it with 5-10 cm of soil.

Step 6

When filling the pot with soil, don't fill it up all at once. Leave 10-20 cm and wait for the stems to grow out, then fill it up slowly.

Step 7

After planting the taro, water it thoroughly and place it in a place with scattered light for maintenance. After the leaves unfold, you can move it to a sunny south balcony for maintenance, ensuring more than 4 hours of light per day. Taro likes moisture, so keep the soil moist during its growth period.

Step 8

When the taro grows 5-6 leaves, you can apply some compound fertilizer, 10 grains of compound fertilizer per taro. Of course, you can also apply organic fertilizer.

Step 9

Taro looks very similar to the Weeping Goddess of Mercy and can be enjoyed as a flower. If any leaves turn yellow, cut them off in time. Note: If there are children at home, do not lick the branches and leaves. By the time autumn comes, you can harvest a large pot of taro!
