Growth habits of purple-backed arrowroot

Purple-backed arrowroot prefers warm, humid and shady environment. It is afraid of frost and prefers loose, fertile, moist and well-drained acidic soil. The suitable temperature for its growth is 20-30℃. It requires more water, is not drought-resistant, is relatively heat-resistant, and is slightly cold-resistant. It can safely overwinter above 5℃.

Purple-backed arrowroot cultivation method

Light: It is necessary to avoid direct sunlight at ordinary times, and it grows well under diffuse light. If the light is too strong, it will easily cause the leaves to turn yellow and lose their luster. In severe cases, it will cause yellowing and burnt edges, so shade measures need to be taken in summer.

Temperature: Purple-backed arrowroot is suitable for growing in a temperature environment of 20-30℃. In the hot summer weather, cooling measures should be taken. In winter, in order to ensure safe wintering, the temperature should not be lower than 10℃, and cold-proof preparations should be made.

Watering: In the hot summer, in addition to normal watering, you also need to frequently spray water on the leaves and on the ground around the plants to increase the air humidity.

Fertilization: Appropriate nutrients need to be added during the growth process, which can be met by applying thin liquid fertilizer. During the growing season, you can apply thin liquid fertilizer 1-2 times a month to ensure that the plant grows stronger and more luxuriantly. In particular, applying a small amount of nitrogen fertilizer can make the leaves of the plant more shiny and beautiful.

Precautions for cultivating purple-backed arrowroot

The first thing is to prevent strong light exposure. 70%-80% of the light should be blocked, otherwise the plants will be burned.

The purple-backed arrowroot has high requirements for the soil and air humidity. If the soil is too dry and the air humidity is too low, it will easily cause yellow leaves and burnt edges.
