What to do if the goldfish plant grows too tall

What to do if the goldfish plant grows too tall

1. Treatment method

There are two ways to deal with the excessive growth of goldfish spider plants: the first is to top them and remove their growth points. It means pinching off the top of the branch to prevent it from growing any further; the second method is to pick off leaves, removing 2 to 3 pairs of leaves from the overgrown branches. The above two methods are to make the branches and stems thicker, shorten the plant as a whole, and retain nutrients for the branches and stems and side buds to allow them to grow better.

2. Prevention methods

①Sunlight: One of the reasons for its excessive growth is lack of light. Although this plant does not need too much sunlight during its growth process, it will easily grow tall if there is no sunlight for a long time. In spring, summer and autumn, it needs to be given some sunlight, but the midday sun should be blocked. In winter, it can be placed completely in the sun. This can effectively prevent it from growing too tall.

②Nutrients: Another reason for its excessive growth is nutrients. Fertilizing too frequently or with too much fertilizer can also cause the plant to grow too tall. If too much fertilizer has been applied, you can stop watering and fertilizing, allowing the plant to be on the verge of starvation and thirst, which will allow it to return to normal. And when there are too many nutrients, it will also affect the flowering of plants. When it returns to normal, apply fertilizer as usual, preferably light fertilizer rather than heavy fertilizer.

③Water: In fact, watering and sunlight must be coordinated. If there is no sunlight for a long time but it is still given sufficient water, it will also grow tall, so avoid watering it too much.
