Clivia seed sowing time

Clivia seeds can be sown in spring and summer. The temperature in the south is higher, so it can be sown in March, while the temperature in the north is lower, so it can generally be sown around April. However, the climate in each region is different, so the specific time will also vary, as long as the temperature is not particularly low.

Clivia seed planting method and steps

1. Seed selection: When the peel of the Clivia turns black and purple, you can cut it off in time and wait for about 15 days to take out the seeds. Fresh and plump seeds are the first choice for planting, and the germination rate of such seeds is relatively high.

2. Germination: Put the selected seeds into 30-degree warm water and soak them for about half an hour. After taking them out, soak them in nutrient solution for about half an hour to make them easier to germinate.

3. Substrate: Before planting, you need to prepare soil suitable for the growth of Clivia. Clivia likes thick, loose, well-drained, moist and slightly acidic organic soil. Put it in the pot after disinfection, soak it with water and then level it.

4. Sowing: Clivia seeds are delicate, and the temperature is best between 20 and 25 degrees. When sowing, it is best to place the seeds one by one with the eyes facing downwards, control the spacing, cover the seeds with 2 to 3 cm of shavings, and gently press them flat.

5. Maintenance: Breeding should be based on the principles of ventilation and moisture. Attention should also be paid to heat preservation, generally 15℃-30℃. During this period, pay attention to the regulation of water to avoid excessive drought or flooding.
