Can creeper be propagated by cuttings?

Ivy can be propagated by cuttings. Ivy can be propagated by hard branch cuttings or soft branch cuttings. The time for hard branch cuttings can be selected in spring from March to April, and the time for soft branch cuttings can be selected in spring from March to April or summer.

Steps for taking cuttings of creeper

Cuttings selection: Whether it is hardwood cuttings or softwood cuttings, you should choose branches with good growth, no diseases and insect pests, and strong as cuttings. Cut off 10 to 15 cm, keep the top 2 to 3 leaves, and cut off all the other leaves. Apply carbendazim to the wound, and then place it in a ventilated place to dry until the wound shrinks.

Substrate preparation: When cutting, it needs to have good drainage and air permeability. You can mix 1 part of leaf mold, 2 parts of river sand, and 1 part of garden soil to make a substrate. Expose it to the sun for 1 to 2 days, or mix it with carbendazim for disinfection.

Carry out cuttings: Before cuttings, immerse the cuttings in the rooting agent solution for 1 hour to promote rooting and improve the survival rate of the cuttings. When cutting, insert the cuttings 1/3 into the matrix, compact the surrounding matrix, and water it thoroughly.

Maintenance and management methods of creeper after cutting

After the cuttings are completed, place the cuttings in a semi-shaded, well-ventilated and warm environment for maintenance. When the surface of the substrate is slightly dry and white, water them until the water seeps out from the bottom of the substrate and stops. Keep them moist and they will take root in about 30 days.
