How to deal with calla lily after it blooms

When does Calla Lily bloom?

Calla lily is a thousand-petal lotus. The lotus with two stems is a sign of good fortune and happiness, and the embodiment of kindness and beauty. The flowering period of calla lily is actually very long, basically keeping the winter warm and the summer warm, and calla lily can bloom all year round.

The natural flowering period of Calla Lily starts in November and lasts until May-June of the following year. Its peak flowering period is from March to April, and the entire flowering period lasts for 6-7 months.

Treatment methods for Calla Lily after flowering

Pruning: Cutting off dead branches and old branches can make the plant rejuvenate and prolong the next flowering period. One month after the flowers fade, the calla lily will grow new branches and buds. At this time, you should observe the number of buds and remove them in time before the buds are formed. This can prevent the buds from consuming too many nutrients, but on the other hand, too many buds will sprout too many branches and disrupt the plant shape.

Watering: After flowering, Calla Lily will consume a lot of nutrients, but it is not advisable to water too much at this time, and water must not be allowed to accumulate in the pot. You can water it in small amounts to ensure that the soil is not too dry. After 1-2 weeks, change to watering once every 5-7 days.

Fertilization: Calla lily is a perennial plant and will not die after flowering. Therefore, it needs reasonable maintenance and management after flowering. The first point is to reduce fertilization. When fertilizing, pay attention to the phosphorus and potassium content not being too high, as it is the main ingredient to promote flowering.

How to grow Calla Lily so that it blooms more

Light: The light in the environment should not be too strong, especially it should not be placed under direct sunlight. The best location is a semi-shaded and ventilated place. While ensuring a certain amount of light, it can reduce the phenomenon of thin leaves caused by dim light.

Fertilization: During the flowering period and after the flower buds begin to appear, we should start to pay attention to supplementing it with phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. Common high-phosphorus and potassium fertilizers include potassium dihydrogen phosphate, Huaduoduo No. 2, etc., which can be applied 2 to 3 times a month.

Soil: Loose, fertile, well-drained soil is required, which can be mixed with river sand, mud and leaf mold.

Temperature: It likes warmth, the suitable temperature for growth is about 25℃, and the wintering temperature should not be lower than 10℃.

Watering: Before watering, insert your fingers into the soil in the pot. If 1 to 2 joints are still moist, then there is no need to water. If 1 to 2 joints are completely dry, then water.
