Can rubber tree pruning survive?

Can rubber tree pruning be transplanted?

Rubber tree cuttings can be grown by grafting. It has a wide adaptability to the environment and can take root soon after cuttings. In addition, the cut branches of the rubber tree can be grown directly into the soil and survive.

Rubber tree cutting time

It is necessary to choose the right time for rubber tree cuttings in order to increase the survival rate. It is best to do it in summer, specifically from June to July each year. The air humidity is relatively high at this time, and the cuttings are easy to survive.

Rubber tree cutting method and key points

1. Cutting selection

The quality of the cuttings will affect the survival rate of the cuttings, so you must choose suitable cuttings. Generally, two-year-old, sturdy branches whose surface is not completely lignified are used as cuttings. The length is controlled at 12-15 cm. Burn the cut ends with an alcohol lamp so that the rubber tree will not ooze white juice.

2. Operation steps

Rubber trees can be grown in hydroponics first and then in soil, so that the rooting rate will be higher. Before cutting, spread 5 cm of coarse river sand in the container, and then spread a 10 cm layer of fine river sand on it. Water it enough for later use, then insert the branches into the water and place them in a sunny place. It will take about 8-10 days for them to take root.

3. Soil culture

When the roots of the rubber tree grow to 3-5 cm, insert the branches into loose, fertile, well-drained potting soil at a depth of about 7-9 cm. Cover them with a layer of plastic to keep them moist. After half a month, permanent roots will grow.
