How to grow Australian Dendrobium to make it bloom

Australian Dendrobium flowering time

Generally speaking, Australian Dendrobium blooms once a year, and the flowering time is in November every year. It needs to be given plenty of sunlight during the growth period, and it is appropriate to ensure no less than 8 hours of sunlight a day. It also needs to be watered, generally once a month, and it is necessary to wait until the soil in the pot is dry before watering.

How to grow and flower Australian Dendrobium

1. Matrix requirements

Australian Dendrobium is also a type of Dendrobium. It has higher requirements for the substrate. Materials with good air permeability and drainage should be selected as the substrate for cultivation. You can choose a mixture of orchid stone, granular peat, and bark as the substrate for planting and maintenance.

2. Reasonable exposure to light

Australian Dendrobium cannot tolerate strong light and likes to grow in a cool place with diffuse light, so the light exposure cannot be too strong, nor can it be completely without light. It can be kept in semi-shade to ensure sufficient diffuse light. When the light is too strong in summer, you should pay attention to shade it and avoid direct light.

3. Suitable temperature

Australian Dendrobium prefers a warm growing environment and cannot tolerate low temperatures. An environment with too low temperatures is not conducive to its growth, so the temperature should be maintained well. In winter, it is best to raise the temperature to above 15 degrees Celsius. If the ambient temperature is low, measures to keep warm should be taken.

4. Water in time

Australian Dendrobium likes to grow in a humid environment, especially during its vigorous growth period. You should pay attention to watering it in time, maintain a good water supply, and keep the soil moist to promote growth. When the temperature drops in autumn, you can reduce watering to avoid water accumulation in the soil and cause frostbite.

5. Reasonable fertilization

Australian Dendrobium is a fertilizer-loving plant. Appropriate topdressing is required during maintenance. You can choose dilute fertilizer, dilute it and then water it on the Australian Dendrobium to promote the plant to absorb nutrients and maintain growth.
