Spring Carrot Planting Time

Spring is a good time to plant carrots, which can be planted from the end of January to the beginning of March every year. The temperature suitable for carrot growth is around 15-25 degrees Celsius. The temperature in the south will rise faster, so carrots can be planted at the end of January and harvested in April. The temperature in the north is relatively low and the temperature rises slowly, so they can be planted from the end of February to the beginning of March.

How to Plant Carrots in Spring

1. Planting soil

When planting carrots, you also need to choose suitable soil. Generally speaking, it likes soil that is rich in nutrients and has good drainage. Therefore, before planting, you can provide sandy loam or yellow loam that is rich in organic matter and has relatively loose soil. Loosen the soil in advance and apply some base fertilizer.

2. Seeding and planting

When sowing spring carrots, you need to choose suitable seeds. Generally, you can use seeds with full grains and healthy growth for planting. When planting, you can sow the carrot seeds directly in the soil, and then cover them with an appropriate amount of fine soil. At the same time, in order to make the seeds germinate as soon as possible, you can water them thoroughly to soak all the soil.

Things to note when planting carrots in spring

Carrots must be carefully cared for after planting in spring. Thinning must be done during the seedling stage, which is usually done twice. After the seedlings grow 2-3 true leaves, thinning can be carried out to remove poorly growing and too dense seedlings.
