Making and maintaining Buddha's hand bonsai

Making and maintaining Buddha's hand bonsai

Material collection and cultivation of Buddha's hand bonsai

When making bonsai with Buddha's hand, the flowers taken can be used as bonsai materials, either cuttings or grafted seedlings.

Buddha's hand needs to be placed in a place with sufficient light, because Buddha's hand likes light and a moist environment, so the bonsai cultivation of Buddha's hand needs to maintain a high air humidity.

Buddha's hand bonsai shape

The best time to plant the Buddha's hand bonsai is in early spring or late autumn. Put the Buddha's hand plant in the pot and choose slightly acidic soil that is fertile and well-drained.

After potting, the Buddha's hand can be allowed to grow normally, and shaping is mainly done through pruning, including picking flowers, pinching hearts, and removing buds.

Flower picking is to remove the overcrowded and underdeveloped flowers of Buddha's hand, and only keep the fully developed flowers. Picking flowers can reduce nutrient consumption and increase the fruit setting rate of bergamot. It is also very necessary to thin the flowers appropriately because there are many flowers when Buddha's hand blooms, and many of them are not fully developed, which is not conducive to the fruiting of Buddha's hand, so it is best to thin the flowers appropriately.

Pinching is to cut off the new buds and branches with strong germination power of Buddha's hand. It should be noted that the new branches in spring and summer are not as good as the branches in autumn. The autumn branches will grow stronger and will bloom and bear better fruits.

In addition, the extra branches, overgrown branches, overcrowded branches, and diseased and insect-infested branches of the Buddha's hand should be cut off.
