What to do if the leaves of hibiscus droop and turn yellow

What to do if the leaves of hibiscus droop and turn yellow

1. Proper watering

Reason: Hibiscus has a very strict demand for water. In the hot season, it needs to be watered once a day, and sometimes twice. Insufficient water will cause the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: Give the hibiscus plenty of water when it grows. Water once a day from July to August. If the water evaporates quickly, water it again. In addition, you should spray water on the leaves in the morning and evening to keep the air moist.

2. Enhance lighting

Reason: Hibiscus needs sufficient light to grow, and it is not afraid of the sun. The longer the light, the better it grows. Insufficient light will cause the leaves to turn yellow and cause buds to drop.

Solution: Although hibiscus is shade-tolerant, it cannot survive without sunlight for a long time. It is usually grown outdoors and receives sunlight throughout the day. It can be placed on a balcony or sunny windowsill indoors so that it can receive sufficient light.

3. Supplement fertilizer

Cause: Insufficient nutrients in the soil will lead to poor growth of hibiscus, causing the leaves to droop and turn yellow.

Solution: Like many plants, hibiscus needs frequent fertilization during the growing season. Generally, compound fertilizer is applied once a week, and the fertilizer should be diluted to avoid damaging the roots. But the difference is that fertilizer should also be applied during its flowering period. Apply a thin layer of organic liquid fertilizer once every half a month, mainly phosphorus and potassium fertilizers.

4. Deworming treatment

Reason: The main pests of hibiscus are aphids, red spiders and cottony scale. These three types of pests will suck the sap of the plant and cause the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: For pests, not only should the adult insects on the surface be eliminated, but also the invisible larvae should be prevented and controlled. Aphid and mite killing drugs can be sprayed on the surface of the plant once a week, and they will be basically exterminated after 2-3 times. After that, you need to increase ventilation and light transmission, and do not place it in an overly humid and enclosed environment.
