How long is the growth cycle of daffodils?

Narcissus growth cycle

The growth cycle of daffodils is about 50-60 days, and they can bloom in less than 2 months. They begin to germinate and grow in the autumn of each year. When the temperature rises in the summer of the following year, they will slowly enter a dormant state. The above-ground parts will wither and die, but the underground bulbs can still remain active. If handled properly, they can be taken out and planted after the temperature drops, and they can germinate and grow again.

Narcissus's requirements for environmental conditions are: no severe cold in winter, no scorching heat in summer, likes light and cool climate, and requires sandy loam rich in humus, loose, fertile, moist and well-drained.

Narcissus growth rate

Daffodils grow relatively fast and can bloom in about a month. The growth rate of daffodils is greatly related to temperature. Generally speaking, the higher the temperature, the faster the growth rate. Assuming the current temperature is 20 degrees, it can grow 1-2 centimeters per day.

Narcissus growth cycle management

Temperature management: The suitable growth temperature for daffodils is around 12 degrees Celsius, and they will grow faster at this temperature. When the daffodils grow buds, they need to be kept at a temperature between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius. This temperature will speed up the opening of the daffodils. They usually bloom in early spring, and the flowering period is about 10 days. After the flowers bloom, they will basically not bloom again in the second year.

Fertilization management: For hydroponics of daffodils, it is only necessary to maintain a suitable environment and it is not necessary to apply fertilizers. If you want rapid growth, you need to apply accelerated-effect phosphorus or potassium fertilizers every 7-10 days. When caring for daffodils in the soil, you can use special fertilizers for daffodils or slow-release compound fertilizers, which can be applied once every half a month or so. For ground planting, you need to apply sufficient base fertilizer and apply topdressing in time to ensure that the fertilizer is evenly distributed.
