The best time to repot Clivia is in spring and autumn, when the temperature is no higher than 35 degrees and no lower than 10 degrees. It is more appropriate to repot within this range.

After 1 to 3 years of cultivation, the roots of potted Clivia are all over the pot, the nutrients in the potting soil are exhausted, the soil is compacted, and the air permeability and water retention are reduced. The original pot is not suitable for the growth and development of the plant and needs to be replaced.

When changing the soil and pot of Clivia, it is necessary to change the soil in a cool, diffused light and humid environment. Temperatures that are too high or too low will inhibit the normal growth of Clivia.

How to change soil and pot for Clivia

1. Remove the pot

Before repotting the Clivia, it is necessary to control the water properly. Keeping the soil in the pot slightly dry will make it easier to remove it from the pot. Hold the bulb in one hand and turn the pot upside down with the other hand to take out the roots. After removing it from the pot, cut off the empty roots and rotten roots, put them in a carbendazim solution for disinfection for half an hour, take them out and dry them before putting them in the pot.

2. Prepare the soil

It is best to plant Clivia with mostly leaf mold or peat soil, so that no fertilizer is needed in the later stage and the leaves can grow larger and the flowers can be more.

3. Planting

Place some small pieces of charcoal at the bottom of the pot, add 1/4 of the soil, add some decomposed chicken manure, turn the plant upside down, fill the roots with the soil, hold the roots with both hands and plant them in the pot, continue to add soil to complete the potting.

Maintenance points for Clivia after soil change

1. Watering : The soil in the pot can be kept slightly moist. There must be no stagnant water. The environment must be kept well ventilated so that it will be easier for the plant to adapt to the pot.

2. Fertilization: After repotting, when the Clivia starts to grow new leaves, you can fertilize it. Fully decomposed organic fertilizer, sheep manure fertilizer, and chicken manure fertilizer can be used.
