How to make carrots sprout quickly

Carrot germination environment

After the carrot seeds are harvested and dried, the prickly hairs need to be rubbed off. Rubbing the hairs will also separate the two halves of the fruit into single seeds.

Carrots prefer a warm environment and are slightly cold-resistant. The seeds begin to germinate at 4-6 degrees and start to grow at 8 degrees. In an environment of 18-20 degrees, they will germinate in about 10 days. Carrots have a wide adaptability to soil, but it is best to plant them in loose, fertile, humus-rich soil.

Carrot germination process

Depending on soil temperature, the seeds will germinate in about one to three weeks. In cooler soils, the germination time will be longer.

If you choose carrot seeds that are moderately mature and plump, generally more than 85% of the seeds will germinate in about 7-8 days.

How to Germinate Carrot Seeds

Soak the processed carrot seeds in hydrogen peroxide solution for 30-50 minutes, take them out and rinse them with clean water 3-4 times, filter the water and put them in a container, and cover them with a wet cloth to germinate.

Carrot seeds germination

There are thorns on the surface of carrot seeds, which will affect their contact with the soil and make it difficult for them to germinate. You need to rub off the thorns, then soak them in 40-degree water for 2 hours, then drain the water and place them at 20-25 degrees for germination. During the germination process, the air humidity should be maintained and the seeds should be turned over regularly. When most of the seeds have germinated, they can be sown.

Carrots are suitable for planting in loose and fertile soil. Renovate the soil in advance, apply compound fertilizer containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, mix it with the soil slope and then sow it. After sowing, cover it with a thin layer of soil, compact it slightly, and then water it thoroughly. If the temperature and humidity are suitable, seedlings will emerge after 10-15 days (6-7 days for germination).
