How to arrange jasmine flowers so that they can take root?

Jasmine is a plant that is easy to grow by cuttings, but it is not easy to make it take root quickly. You need to master the correct techniques and methods. So how can you arrange jasmine flowers so that they can take root? Let’s learn more about it below.

1. Choose cuttings

Choose healthy, disease-free and insect-free jasmine branches as cuttings. It is best to use semi-lignified branches with a length of 10-15 cm. Keep 2-3 nodes, cut off the lower leaves, and keep 1-2 leaves on the top.

2. Matrix Preparation

The substrate can be made of loose, well-drained, slightly acidic sandy soil, such as a mixture of vermiculite, river sand, and leaf mold, and must be disinfected in advance.

3. Cutting time

The time range for jasmine cuttings is very flexible, and it can be from early spring to late summer. Of course, if you want a high survival rate and fast rooting, it is best to choose a time period with a temperature of around 25 degrees.

4. Cuttings processing

Use sharp scissors to cut the bottom of the cuttings diagonally to increase the water absorption area. You can soak the bottom in rooting powder to promote rooting. Rooting powder should be used according to the instructions. Usually, just dip the bottom of the cuttings lightly in the rooting powder.

5. Cutting method

Insert the treated cuttings into the prepared substrate to a depth of about 2-3 cm, water thoroughly, and place in a well-ventilated place with diffuse light.

6. Maintenance and management

After cuttings, keep the substrate moist, but avoid water accumulation. Place the grafted jasmine flowers in a well-ventilated, brightly lit semi-shaded environment and spray water to keep them moist, but avoid excessive spraying that may cause leaf rot.

7. Notes

After the cuttings are successful, the jasmine will basically grow new branches and leaves in about a month, and will take root in two months. Before it takes root, avoid direct sunlight and apply fertilizer . After it takes root, just transplant it into a flowerpot.

In general, the cutting propagation of jasmine is not complicated. By mastering the above steps and precautions, you can effectively improve the rooting rate and survival rate of jasmine cuttings.
