How long does it take for dragon fruit cuttings to take root?

Dragon fruit cutting rooting time

Dragon fruit can be propagated by cuttings in April-May or in June-October. However, when propagating, a suitable moisture environment is required and it is best to keep the soil dry, which can increase the survival rate. The cuttings will take root about 1-2 weeks after propagation .

After a period of time, if you find that the cuttings of pitaya begin to sprout, it means that the cuttings have taken root and survived. During this period, there must be a suitable temperature environment.

If the temperature is suitable and the care is proper, dragon fruit will generally grow leaves in about half a month. When caring for it, reduce the frequency of watering and keep it dry.

Dragon fruit cutting rooting method

When pitaya is being propagated, you need to select perennial, thick and strong fleshy stems as cuttings, and the soil used should be mainly a mixture of humus, garden soil and coarse sand. Before propagation, the selected soil should be thoroughly disinfected to promote the rooting rate. It will take about 1-2 weeks for the cuttings to take root after propagation.

Dragon fruit cutting management

1. When cutting dragon fruit cuttings, you need to apply wood ash or sterilization powder to the blade to prevent the wound from being infected by bacteria and affecting growth and development.

2. After the dragon fruit grows rhizomes, it can be exposed to the sun. However, if the cuttings have just taken root, it is not suitable to give them too much light immediately. They can be exposed to the sun after 2-3 days.

3. It takes about 20 days for pitaya to take root after cuttings, and then it starts to sprout and grow stems and leaves. After sprouting, you can apply nitrogen fertilizer appropriately.

4. After grafting the dragon fruit, don't rush to water it. The soil should be in a dry state. Watering can be done after about 10 days, which is more conducive to growth.
