Where is ice grass suitable for planting?

Ice grass planting area

Ice grass generally grows in places with low rainfall and is suitable for growing in slightly arid areas in the north. It is a vegetable that has been newly introduced into my country in recent years, and its planting area is not very large.

Ice grass grows best in a relatively humid climate where the regional precipitation and soil moisture content are not high. The main growth range of ice grass is in many northern provinces. Due to excessive rainfall in the south, abundant rain often leads to waterlogging in the soil and the death of ice grass, so it is not suitable for planting. The ice grass near Beijing is more famous.

Ice grass planting conditions

Ice grass is suitable for planting in subtropical areas with relatively dry soil. It has a strong tolerance to drought and is a light-loving plant that can accept full sunlight. The temperature during the growing period is best maintained at 15 to 20 degrees Celsius. Ice grass also grows well in saline-alkali land and is a plant with strong tolerance.

Key points for planting and managing wheatgrass

1. Lighting:

Ice grass can directly receive full sunlight during its growth and is not afraid of direct sunlight. However, if the light in summer is too strong, it is necessary to shade the plant in time to avoid burns.

2. Water content:

Ice grass has a small demand for water. Too much watering will be detrimental to the growth of the plant. If the rainfall in the rainy season is too heavy, the soil must be drained in time.

3. Soil:

The soil for the growth of ice grass requires good hydrophobicity and air permeability. Before planting, it is best to add some small sand or peat soil to the soil to improve the soil's drainage capacity.
