Where is Kyoho grape suitable for planting?

Kyoho grape growing area

Generally, Kyoho grape seedlings are suitable for growing in places with relatively high humidity. They need a relatively dry environment during the flowering period, and a semi-dry environment when they set fruits in the later stage.

Kyoho grapes are grown in Pingyi, Longkou in Shandong, Changli and Weixian in Hebei, and Linghu, Chashan'ao and Dongyangdu in Hengyang City in Hunan Province. Among them, Shandong Kyoho is purple-black when ripe, with thick skin, rich fruit powder, soft flesh, sweet and juicy taste. Together with Xinjiang Kyoho, they are collectively known as the Second Kyoho.

Kyoho grape growing conditions

Kyoho grapes have high requirements for humidity. Normally, the relative humidity of the air needs to be controlled within 70%-80%. However, when flowering, the humidity needs to be lowered and kept dry. Normally, its growth temperature can be adjusted to around 25℃. During the fruiting period, the temperature difference between day and night needs to be maintained at more than 10℃.

Key points of planting and management of Kyoho grapes

1. When the diameter of the new shoots exceeds 1.5 cm, it is difficult to form flower buds and the fruit setting is poor, so the application of nitrogen fertilizer should be controlled first to prevent the tree from growing too vigorously;

2. Pinch the fruit branches before flowering. Pinch not too hard or too light. Too hard will easily produce large and small grains, while too light will not improve the fruit setting rate. It is better to leave 5 leaves above the fruit cluster.

3. Inflorescence shaping, remove the secondary spikes and 2-4 small branches at the base of the inflorescence, pinch off the 2-3cm spike tip, and leave only the 7-8cm middle section. This can concentrate the nutrient supply during flowering, increase the fruit setting rate, and make the fruit spikes compact;

4. Thinning the fruits: After the fruits set, thin the fruits appropriately, removing small fruits and fruits inside the clusters, leaving 40-50 fruits per cluster.
