How to plant peony flowers? Planting time and method

Peony planting time

Peonies are generally best planted at the end of August each year, as the climate at this time is conducive to the formation of flower buds on the plant. This period is also when peonies enter a dormant period, so it is best to carry out bare-root transplanting.

How to plant peony flowers

1. Germination treatment : When planting peonies, try to choose new varieties that are mature, plump and thick. Soak them in warm water for about 12 hours, pick them up and place them in wet sand for germination treatment. Spray water once a day and place them in a warm and semi-shaded environment. They will germinate in about a month.

2. Selection of potting soil : Choose a ceramic pot of suitable size with good permeability, prepare loose, fertile and slightly alkaline soil, apply enough base fertilizer before planting, and add an appropriate amount of fungicide to achieve a bactericidal and disinfecting effect.

3. Cultivation and management : Plant the peony seedlings in the soil. Do not plant too deep, about 3 to 4 cm is best. Then cover them with a layer of thin soil, flatten the soil with your hands, and water them thoroughly in time.

How to plant the newly bought peony flowers

After the peony is just bought, it has not yet adapted to the new environment. It should be placed in a place with soft light and the temperature should be kept at around 20 degrees Celsius. Usually water it once every 5-7 days, and then water and fertilize it after the peony adapts to the environment.

How to grow peony flowers quickly

1. Light : There must be sufficient light at ordinary times, because peony is a sun-loving plant, but it cannot be exposed directly to the sun.

2. Soil preparation : The soil for peony flowers should be loose and breathable. It is drought-resistant but afraid of waterlogging. It is best to have good drainage.

3. Fertilization : Pay attention to fertilizing the peony during the growing period. In addition, different fertilizers need to be applied in different growing periods, and not one-sided application.
