Trichosanthes planting conditions and environmental growth climate requirements

Trichosanthes planting conditions and environmental growth climate requirements

Trichosanthes planting conditions

Trichosanthes prefers a warm and humid environment, is relatively cold-resistant, but not drought-resistant. When planting, it is advisable to choose a plot with irrigation conditions. In addition, deep, loose and fertile sandy loam promotes the growth and development of its roots, and a higher yield can be obtained. It should not be planted in saline-alkali land or low-lying land that is prone to waterlogging.

Trichosanthes cultivation climate

Trichosanthes prefers a warm and humid growing environment. The suitable germination temperature is between 25-30 degrees, the germination rate is 60% to 80%, and the seed life is 2 years. When the soil temperature is 13 degrees, the underground buds begin to sprout and emerge at around 17 degrees.

Trichosanthes planting area

Trichosanthes has a wide adaptability to soil, but it is a deep-rooted crop that can penetrate 1-1.5 meters into the soil. Therefore, it needs to be planted in sandy loam with deep soil, loose and fertile soil, good drainage, and rich in organic matter. It is not suitable for planting in low-lying areas or saline-alkali land.

Trichosanthes kirilowii is mainly distributed in Liaoning, North China (Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Shandong), East China, Central South, Shaanxi, Gansu, Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan in China.

Trichosanthes planting time

The best time to sow Trichosanthes seeds is in spring and autumn, specifically from February to May in spring and from September to October in autumn. The Trichosanthes seeds sown at these two times have the highest germination rate and grow best.

Benefits of Trichosanthes cultivation

As the market demand for Trichosanthes kirilowii increases, the annual outdoor production gradually fails to keep up with the consumption, and it becomes a scarce resource. Therefore, due to the supply and demand imbalance, the market price of Trichosanthes kirilowii still has room for growth. In addition, Trichosanthes kirilowii has a wide range of applications, and its fruit and rhizome have high medicinal value. The current development potential of Trichosanthes kirilowii is very good, and the prospects are also very promising.
