Flowers are the most important point to distinguish the two. Both iris and iris have beautiful flowers that look somewhat similar, but not exactly the same.

Flowers of iris

The flowers of Iris are relatively simple, with tongue-shaped petals that are relatively narrow, two of which are bent and expanded outward, while the rest are relatively upright and very energetic. The flower stem of Iris is about 10 cm long, with 2 to 4 flowers, mostly blue-purple.

Iris flowers

The flowers of irises look soft and pretty, the flowers are relatively large, and the petals are oval and wrinkled. The flowers are open when in bloom, with light yellow anthers. The flower stem of iris is relatively long, about 20-40cm, and there are usually two flowers. Purple is the most common color, but there are also varieties in other colors.

The difference between iris and iris leaves

Not only are the flowers of Iris and Dalbergia different, but the leaves are also different.

Leaves of iris

The leaves of Iris are relatively slender, single leaves are alternate, oval to lanceolate, and relatively upright with a hard texture.

Iris leaves

The leaves of iris are just the opposite. Their leaves are wider and shorter, with pointed tips. They are mainly broad sword-shaped, relatively not so upright, softer in texture, and sometimes droopy.

Other differences between iris and iris

In addition, the flowering period of Iris is concentrated from April to June, while that of Iris is a little longer. Iris is suitable for soil and water conservation and greening plants, while iris is more for ornamental purposes.
