Soybean seed sowing time

Soybeans are mainly sown in spring and summer. Spring sowing can be done around the Qingming Festival and harvested in September. Summer sowing can be done after the wheat harvest and harvested in September-October. There is also a kind of soybean in the Northeast whose sowing period is later, but the harvest period is almost the same.

It takes about 50 to 60 days from sowing soybean seeds to flowering, and the flowering period lasts about 30 days. It is cultivated once a year in northern China, mainly sown in April and May, and matures in September.

Prepare loose and fertile soil, renovate it in advance, apply enough base fertilizer, and if there are irrigation conditions, water it once before sowing to promote seed germination. After that, sow the soybean seeds on the surface of the soil, cover it with a thin layer of soil, water it once, and they will germinate soon.

Seed treatment

Before sowing soybeans, seeds need to be treated to increase the germination rate. Select autumn varieties to ensure full seedlings at one time. Select full and good quality seeds for sun drying before sowing to increase growth potential. Mix the seeds with 0.1{bf}-0.2{bf} of ammonium molybdate or rhizobia when sowing.

Sow the soybeans in loose and breathable soil. They will start to take root in about 2 days. Between 3 to 5 days, the roots will penetrate deep into the soil and sprout out of the soil in about 7 days.

When the soybean seeds emerge and grow to 6 to 7 cm, they need to be supplemented and then tilled. When they are 15 cm high, the second tillage is carried out, and the third tillage is carried out before flowering. If the soil is dry during the seedling stage, water it in time, but do not water it in the early stage of flowering. The amount of watering can be gradually increased until after pod formation.
