How long is the growth cycle of passion fruit?

Introduction to passion fruit growth

Passion fruit has a wide adaptability. If it is planted in the same year, it will bear fruit in the same year. After planting and production, the yield per acre is about 2,500 kilograms, and it can generate sustainable profits for about 10 years. It is planted in Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian, Hainan, Yunnan and other places in my country.

Passion fruit growth cycle

Passion fruit grows slowly in the seedling stage. When the seedling is 50 cm high, it has strong branching and grows rapidly. It will have lush branches and leaves after one year of planting. A one-year yellow passion fruit can grow more than 2,000 leaf nodes and 57 fruiting branches.

Passion fruit is a perennial plant. Its growth starts from seeds. After the seeds are buried in the soil, they will germinate and grow stems, branches and leaves. It can bear fruit in autumn, but very few fruits in the first year. It will only bear a large number of fruits after growing for 1-2 years.

Passion fruit growth rate

When passion fruit seeds are planted in the soil, they will enter the germination period after 10 days. During the growth period, vines and leaves will grow. It will bloom in May and enter the fruiting period after pollination. In July, the fruit will gradually turn red and enter the maturity period.

Passion fruit grows very fast. It is sown in March and April every spring, blooms in July in summer, and the fruit can be picked in September in autumn. It blooms in April of the following year, bears fruit in May to October, and the fruit can be picked when it is ripe in August to October.

Passion fruit growth cycle management

The yield of passion fruit is closely related to the cultivation and management techniques. The yield per mu is 800 kilograms in the first year, 1,000 kilograms per mu in the second year, and up to 2,000 kilograms per mu in the third year of high yield.

Temperature management: Passion fruit grows best in temperatures between 20 and 30°C. When the temperature is below 20°C, its growth will become slow, and it will stop growing when the temperature drops below 6°C. However, the temperature cannot be too high, otherwise the plant will easily grow poorly.

Fertilization management: Applying base fertilizer when planting passion fruit can enhance the fertility of the soil and strengthen the nutrient absorption of the fruit trees. Generally, organic fertilizer and microbial fertilizer are used.
