Introduction to Navel Orange GrowthThe growth of navel orange requires deep, loose, fertile soil with good drainage and ventilation, strong water and fertilizer retention capacity, and rich organic matter content. Sandy loam is preferred. Navel oranges are widely grown in the world, mainly in Brazil and the United States. The main navel orange producing areas in my country are 12 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions including Chongqing, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan and Sichuan. Navel orange growth cycleIt takes 7-8 years for navel oranges to grow from planting to peak fruit-bearing period. They are suitable for growing in an environment with an average annual temperature between 18-22℃, an absolute minimum temperature of not less than -5℃, and a temperature difference between day and night of more than 10℃ during the fruit ripening period. Navel orange growth rateNavel oranges grow slowly, and their growth is divided into five stages: budding, spring budding, flowering, fruit growth and expansion, and fruit ripening. Generally, it takes 280-300 days of growth and ripening from the germination of spring buds at the end of February to the ripening of fruits. Navel orange growth cycle managementThe planting period of navel oranges takes three years. The yield per mu reaches 340 kilograms in the fourth year, 400 kilograms in the fifth year, 800 kilograms in the sixth year, and the peak fruit-bearing period in the seventh year, with an annual yield of 1,360 kilograms. Temperature management : The most suitable temperature for the growth and development of navel oranges is when the daily average temperature is 23-29℃. It can tolerate short-term low temperatures of -6.5℃, but the lowest temperature in winter should be above -3℃. Fertilization management : If the navel orange is a young tree planted in the same year, the method of fertilization is mostly frequent and thin fertilization, in small amounts and multiple times, with topdressing every 10-15 days. In autumn and winter, apply base fertilizer appropriately. Before fruiting, the young trees should be fertilized frequently and thinly, mainly with nitrogen fertilizer, combined with phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, and fertilize 6-8 times a year. |
