Basil cultivation methods and precautions

Basil cultivation methods and precautions

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: Basil grows best in a warm environment. Therefore, the ambient temperature can be adjusted to 15 to 25 degrees. According to its habits, it is not cold-resistant, so it needs to be protected from the cold in winter and try to keep the temperature above ten degrees.

2. Watering: According to the habits of basil, it is drought-resistant, but it is very afraid of waterlogging. Therefore, you should never water too much at any time and never allow water to accumulate. You can water it according to the principle of "better dry than wet". When water accumulates in the basin, it needs to be drained out in time.

3. Light: Basil prefers light. When the light is not particularly strong, you can place it in a sunny place. When the light is very strong, you can move it to a semi-shaded place to avoid being exposed to the sun.

4. Soil: The two most important requirements are drainage and nutrition. Meeting these two requirements can ensure its growth.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: It can be done by sowing. The time of sowing varies according to the region. In the south, seeds are usually sown in March or April, while in the north, they can be sown in late April or May. Moreover, you need to choose a sunny morning. Choose nutrient soil as the substrate. Then, choose suitable seeds and soak them in clean water before sowing. If the "row sowing" method is adopted, the row spacing can be controlled at thirty-five centimeters. If the "hole sowing" method is used, the hole distance can be controlled at 25 centimeters. After sowing, keep the seeds moist.

2. Repotting: The soil can be changed once every two years. However, in the interval between soil changes, the soil needs to be loosened frequently, and the surrounding weeds need to be cleared while loosening the soil.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Disease: There may be "wilt disease", which is a disease caused by fungi. This disease causes leaves to wilt and die. The bacteria that cause this disease can remain in the soil for many years. Medication is the most effective treatment and should be used promptly.

2. Pests: There are many types, such as "snails", "slugs", "leaf miners", etc. Smaller numbers available for capture. You can also use their favorite food to lure and kill them.

IV. Other issues

1. Toxicity: It is non-toxic. Moreover, it can also be used as a medicinal material.

2. Can it be kept at home: Yes. It is non-toxic and can be raised with confidence. It can also be used for viewing purposes, and the indoor temperature and light conditions are also suitable.
