How long is the growth cycle of cherry tomatoes?

Introduction to the growth of cherry tomatoes

Cherry tomatoes are suitable for growing in a warm environment. They are prone to bacterial wilt and other diseases that cause root rot in high temperature weather, and late blight in low temperature and rainy weather. They are planted on a large scale in Shandong and Hainan in my country. The cherry tomatoes from Lingshui, Hainan are the most delicious.

Growth cycle of small tomato

Cherry tomatoes take 10 to 14 days to germinate. Their seeds absorb water rapidly and slowly. Their radicle and hypocotyl grow before the cotyledons emerge from the soil, pushing the cotyledons out of the soil and causing them to unfold. The seedling stage takes 35 to 40 days.

The growth cycle of cherry tomatoes takes about four to six months. After planting the seeds, it usually takes a week for them to germinate. It takes two to three months for the buds to grow into bloom and bear fruit, and the final maturity period takes about two months.

Growth rate of small tomatoes

The time for raising cherry tomato seedlings is from late December to early January of the following year. Before sowing and raising seedlings, put the seeds in the sun to dry for two days, then soak them in warm water, cover them with soil after sowing the seeds, and when the plant grows in the later stage, you can put up a support to make it climb upwards.

The growing period of cherry tomatoes ranges from 110 to 170 days. Its growth and development cycle is the period from sowing and germination to seed maturity, which is divided into four stages: germination, seedling, flowering and fruiting, and fruiting.

Growth cycle management of cherry tomatoes

A single cherry tomato plant can produce 15 bunches of fruit, and with one crop, the yield per mu can reach 25,000-30,000 kilograms. A single large tomato plant can produce 12 bunches of fruit, and with one crop, the yield per mu can exceed 40,000 kilograms. Greenhouse cultivation can produce two crops a year, and the annual output of cherry tomatoes can be 50,000-60,000 kilograms.

During the growth and development period of cherry tomatoes, only by mastering each growth node can the growth of tomatoes be managed well. Generally, the entire growth of tomatoes is divided into germination period, seedling period, flowering period, fruiting period and harvest period.

Temperature management: The most suitable temperature for the growth and development of cherry tomatoes is between 19-24℃. When the temperature is higher than 33℃, the flowers and fruits are prone to fall off. When the temperature is lower than 10℃, the growth is slow or even no fruit will be produced.

Fertilization management: During the growth process of cherry tomatoes, base fertilizer is needed, and three top dressings are required, including fertilizer for seedling growth, fertilizer for fruit enlargement, and fertilizer for color change. Top dressing should be applied according to the requirements of different periods. Generally, a combination of root top dressing and foliar spraying is used to meet the growth needs of tomatoes while saving costs.
