Can figs be grown in pots?

Figs can be grown in potted plants. Not only are the fruits of this plant edible, but the plant also has a beautiful shape and high ornamental value, making it very suitable for potted plants.

Potted figs are larger in size, and the depth of the pot should be about one-fourth of the height of the tree, and the diameter should be more than 40 cm. Otherwise, if the pot is too small, it will limit the growth of the plant. Potted figs can also bloom and bear fruit.

Fig pot cultivation method

1. Soil

Figs are not very demanding on soil. The plants can grow normally in gray loam, sandy soil, clay loam, and acidic red soil, but loose, well-ventilated, and well-drained soil is best.

2. Moisture

Potted figs do not have strict requirements for water during their growth, but it is best to keep the soil in the pot slightly moist, and water the plant about once every 2-3 days.

3. Lighting

Potted figs require sufficient light during maintenance, and the daily light time must be at least 8 hours, which is conducive to the growth of the fruit.

4. Temperature

The most suitable growth temperature for figs is 8-20℃. The plant has a certain degree of cold resistance, but is not frost-resistant. It begins to freeze when the temperature drops below -12℃. Pay attention to insulation measures in winter.

5. Fertilization

Figs need to be fertilized frequently during the cultivation period, especially during the growing season. Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers need to be applied multiple times, and water needs to be added in time after each fertilization to avoid root burn.
