What soil is suitable for growing carnations?

Carnation soil

Carnations like alkaline soil, the pH value of the soil is preferably between 5.6-6.4, and calcium soil is the most preferred. The plant requires the soil to be loose, breathable, and high in humus content to meet the growth needs of carnations.

Carnations can be grown in nutrient soil, but nutrient soil is acidic, and carnations prefer alkaline soil. Although the nutrients in it are relatively sufficient, it still needs to be properly processed before use.

How to prepare soil for carnations

Carnations are afraid of waterlogging. When preparing the soil, you can use garden soil, river sand, and leaf mold in a ratio of 1:1:1. This way, the soil will not easily accumulate water.

Changing the soil for carnation potting

1. Remove from the pot: Before changing the soil of the carnation, you must first remove the pot, stop watering in advance, then knock on the four sides of the pot with your hands, hold the pot with one hand, and take the pot out of the soil with the other hand.

2. Prepare new soil: Before re-potting the carnation, you need to prepare new soil and flowerpots. The soil can be made of humus, river sand, and perlite, and there should be drainage holes at the bottom of the flowerpot.

3. Re-potting: Place the newly prepared soil in the pot, put the carnation in, and then continue to fill with soil to cover it, bury the roots, and gently press it down with your hands.
