Huanghuali Planting Conditions and Climate Requirements

Huanghuali Introduction

Huanghuali, also known as Dalbergia odorifera, Hainan Dalbergia, Hainan huanghuali, and rosewood, is a plant of the Fabaceae family, Dalbergia genus. It matures slowly, has solid wood and beautiful patterns. Huanghuali wood, along with red sandalwood, wenge and ironwood are known as the four famous woods of China, and it is also a national second-level protected plant.

The varieties of huanghuali include Hainan huanghuali, Vietnamese huanghuali, Burmese huanghuali, Laotian huanghuali, etc.

Huanghuali Planting Conditions

Huanghuali likes a warm environment, with an average annual temperature of 23 to 25 degrees and an extreme minimum temperature of 6.6 degrees. It is suitable for planting on brown brick red soil and red soil with good drainage, looseness and fertility. It likes an environment with plenty of sunlight. If the environment is dark, the growth of young trees will be weak.

Huanghuali has strong adaptability to the environment and can grow on steep slopes, ridges, exposed rocks, and arid and barren land. It was originally distributed on the Jianfengling of Diaoluo Mountain on Hainan Island, China. It mainly grows on sunny plains and hilly areas at an altitude of about 100 meters. It is planted in Hainan, Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian and other places in China.

Huanghuali planting time

The best time to sow huanghuali seeds is March, April, May, November and December every year. Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian and other places have more rain in spring, so it is appropriate to sow in March to May. The planting season in Hainan is relatively late, generally in late autumn or early winter.

Benefits of Huanghuali Planting

Huanghuali has high economic value and is more expensive than gold. As a precious wood, it has good market prospects, but it takes a long time to plant and requires a lot of investment. Currently, there are mainly Hainan Huanghuali and the lower-priced Vietnamese Huanghuali on the market, but not every place is suitable for planting.
