What should I do if the leaves of the jade fan grow crooked?

Solution

If the leaves on both sides are not symmetrical, you must remove them as soon as possible. The so-called leaf removal means removing the leaves that affect the appearance, but be careful not to remove too many leaves. At least three leaves should be left on each side. Of course, you can't be reluctant to remove the leaves, because if there are too many leaves, it may lead to malnutrition, and the leaves will become thinner and naturally ugly.

Properly removing excess leaves is equivalent to harvesting new seedlings. If you have the energy, you can plant a few more pots. This is bound to be a virtuous cycle.

Procedure

Before processing, you must first find the leaves that need to be processed. In the jade fan shown in the picture, the number of leaves on the left and right sides is different. You can keep the six in the middle and remove the rest. This will not only make the two sides symmetrical and beautiful, but also allow the six fan blades in the middle to grow better.

The blade should be as thin and small as possible, otherwise it will damage the mother plant. Pour out the soil on the surface first, then you can start pruning. When pruning, you must pay attention to the part where the leaves are connected to the roots, that is, the base of the leaves. There is a little connection here, and you should also cut it off with the knife you just prepared.

Now you can press lightly on both sides of the leaf with one hand, hold it in place with the other hand, shake it left and right a few times, and then simply pull the leaf off. But this should be done according to your usual feel and experience.

After pulling it out, you can put the surface soil you just poured out back into the pot, and the "reshaping" process of the jade fan is completed.

Maintenance after treatment

If the above process goes smoothly, this kind of leaves will easily germinate. Just make sure to dry them before planting. The small leaves that have just been inserted into the soil do not need to be watered for a short period of time, and can be maintained normally in the future.
