How to propagate Gloxinia by cuttings

How to propagate Gloxinia by cuttings

Branch cuttings

Choose a container with holes in the bottom to aid drainage and keep the soil loose and airy.

When mixing the soil, choose fine sand or perlite, fill the lower part with peat soil and the upper part with perlite.

Choose a branch with four leaves on the tuber, heat the scissors over fire, and cut the branch from the root.

Dig a small hole in the soil, put the buds in, and then cover them with soil. Be careful not to insert them abruptly to avoid damaging the wound.

After planting, pay attention to shade, avoid direct sunlight, maintain the surrounding temperature at 18℃-20℃, and it will germinate in about 15 days.

Leaf cuttings

After the flowers fall, choose leaves from plants that are lush and resistant, and pick them from the base along with the petioles.

Cut the leaves in half and insert the petiole obliquely into a matrix mixed with perlite and vermiculite, leaving two-thirds of the leaf surface on the surface.

Cover it with glass and place it in a cool place. Keep the ambient temperature at 25℃ and the humidity high. The seedlings will grow out in about 20 days and then be moved into pots.

Bud cuttings

It is usually done when the new buds that sprout in spring grow to 4-6 cm.

Break off the extra new shoots from the base, insert them into the sand bed, and maintain a certain humidity and temperature. After a period of cultivation, they will bloom in June or July of the following year.
