Can trumpet creeper be potted?

Trumpet creeper can be potted, but it needs to use a pot with good air permeability. It can be propagated by cuttings or layering. In addition, the trumpet creeper itself is also very suitable for ground planting.

If the trumpet creeper is planted in a pot on the balcony, it is recommended to use a pot with a diameter of more than 80 cm and a depth of about 50 cm. It will bloom in about three years of care.

How to grow trumpet creeper in pots

1. Soil

Potted trumpet creepers prefer fertile, loose, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. You can use a mixture of leaf mold and garden soil, and add an appropriate amount of base fertilizer.

2. Lighting

Trumpet creeper is a light-loving plant and needs to be provided with sufficient light during the maintenance process. The daily light time should be no less than 6 hours so that the plant can carry out photosynthesis.

3. Fertilization

Trumpet creeper is very fond of fertilizer, and it needs to be supplemented with nutrients in time before maintenance. Generally, starting from May, it is necessary to change to fertilizers mainly composed of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to promote the differentiation of flower buds.

4. Moisture

Trumpet creeper likes moisture and needs to be watered frequently during the growing period to keep the soil in the pot slightly moist, but no water accumulation. After the plant enters a dormant period, the soil should be kept relatively dry.

5. Pruning

After a short period of dormancy in winter, it is necessary to promptly cut off all the dead branches, weak branches, and residual flowers of the trumpet creeper. This will promote the plant to sprout new and strong branches.
