Plant repotting time

The plant is growing slowly and becoming stronger and stronger. The previous flowerpot seems to be getting smaller and smaller, and the nutrients in the soil are also exhausted. If the pot is not changed, the root system will age, the leaves will become smaller and yellow, and the growth of the plant will be seriously affected.

It is best to repot the plants during their dormant period or early growth period, usually in spring and autumn. At this time, repotting will cause minimal damage to the plants, and the plants can recover quickly. It is best to do it on a cloudy day or in the evening.

How to repot plants

1. Disinfection

If plants are planted in new pots, they need to be disinfected in advance. Soak them in potassium permanganate and water, place them in a well-ventilated place to dry, and then rinse them again. The new pots contain alkali, which will affect the growth of the plants. If you just change the soil, the old pots still need to be cleaned and placed in the sun for a day to eliminate bacteria and insect eggs in the pots.

2. Pruning

After the plant is removed from the pot, rotten and yellowed roots should be trimmed. Another important point is that when pruning the roots, do not clean off the soil on the roots of the plant. Keep it to facilitate survival in the new pot and to facilitate faster rooting.

3. Put it in the basin

Plant the treated plants in loose, fertile, well-drained soil. Do not compact the soil too much when planting. There should be gaps and air permeability to facilitate rapid root growth.

Things to note when repotting plants

After the plant is repotted, there is no need to fertilize. You can put some fruit peels in the soil and let them ferment on their own. Then wait a month before fertilizing again. You can apply some fertilizers containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, loosen the soil appropriately, and water it. At this time, the flowers will have fully adapted to the environment and can be moved to the sun to bask in the sun normally.
