Methods and precautions for propagation of asparagus fern cuttings

How to propagate asparagus fern by cuttings

Asparagus fern is highly ornamental and grows fast. It will have lush branches and leaves in 3-5 years. It is generally propagated by division and cuttings. These two propagation methods are relatively simple and fast, and they are also easy to germinate and root. Cuttings can be carried out all year round, but the temperature should not be too high or too low, preferably between 20℃ and 30℃. The specific cutting method is as follows:

1. When taking cuttings of asparagus fern, you should choose branches that are vigorously growing, free of diseases, and growing well.

2. Use a sharp knife to make a small cut one finger above the root-stem junction of the cutting branch. Leave the cut exposed for half a day, and then apply a layer of clean fresh moss.

3. After about 10-15 days, you can remove the fresh moss, keep about two branches and cut them to 1/3, and cut off the rest.

4. Finally, fill the pot with suitable soil, then water it to keep the soil moist, and then you can insert the branches into it.

Precautions for cutting of asparagus fern

When propagating asparagus fern by cuttings, it is best to choose nutrient soil rich in humus. This kind of soil is loose and has good drainage, which is conducive to its growth. Moreover, the branches chosen for cuttings must be healthy and disease-free, and reasonable maintenance must be carried out after cuttings.
