Can Hami melon be grown in Guangxi?

In terms of temperature, the conditions are similar. The main reason lies in the issue of sunlight time. The average annual sunlight time in Guangxi is about 1,500 hours, while the annual sunlight time required for high-quality Hami melons is more than 3,000 hours. There is a big gap. Even if it can be planted, it cannot produce high-quality Hami melons.

Hami melon is suitable for planting in a warm and humid environment, which can make the plant grow more vigorously. Hami melon is widely cultivated in various parts of my country. Except for a few high-altitude areas in Xinjiang, most areas produce Hami melon, such as Shixian County in southern Xinjiang, Hami and Turpan Basin, and Shihezi area.

Hami melon planting technology in Guangxi

1. Lighting

Hami melon has high requirements for light throughout its growing period. Strong light and long daylight hours are very beneficial to plant growth and are conducive to the accumulation of high sugar content during the fruit expansion period. High-quality and high-yield can be obtained when the annual sunshine hours are above 3000h.

2. Temperature

Hami melon seeds have high temperature requirements for germination. The most suitable germination temperature is 28-30℃. They start to germinate 24 hours in an environment with a minimum temperature of 15℃ and a maximum temperature of 30℃. The most suitable temperature for Hami melon flowering and fruiting period is 25-30℃, and 18-30℃ is the most suitable temperature for fruit expansion period.

3. Watering

Hami melon seedlings have low soil moisture requirements, preferably 60%-70% of the soil's maximum water holding capacity. Thereafter, water demand gradually increases during the growth period. The fruit development period is the critical period for Hami melon water demand, and the water demand gradually decreases as the fruit matures.

4. Soil

When planting Hami melons, loose, well-ventilated sandy loam or sandy soil is the main choice. Of course, you can also build a garden on hilly mountains with loose soil rich in humus.
