The propagation methods and precautions of asparagus fern

The propagation methods and precautions of asparagus fern

1. Reproduction method

1. Division

First, generally use branches that have grown for two or three years for division, move them out of the pot, and then clean up the soil at the roots. Its survival rate is very high, as long as the roots are not seriously damaged, it can survive.

Second, use some chicken manure as fertilizer. Choose loose soil and put some pond mud at the bottom of the pot.

Third, after dividing the plant, water it thoroughly at one time. Normally, wait until the soil is dry before watering again. The temperature of the water should be similar to the air temperature.

2. Cuttings

First, if the temperature is too low, the survival rate of this method will not be very high, so it is best to do it in an environment of 20-30 degrees. Choose a bamboo with a lot of branches and leaves, make a small cut on the bamboo, and then apply a layer of moss on it. Leave it for ten days, keeping the humidity constant during this process.

Second, after ten days, a tumor-like knot will grow at the wound, and then you can cut it off.

Third, put some loose and moist soil in a cloth bag, then poke some small holes on the outside of the bag, and then put the branches in. Place it in a pot, fill it with soil, and it will soon come to life.

3. Planting seeds

First, wait until its seeds become soft, which means it is ripe. You can pick it, wash it with water, and then dry it in the sun and store it.

Second, wait until early April and plant its seeds in sandy soil, preferably in a wooden pot. Place three seeds in each pot. Then cover it with sand, not too thick or too tight.

Third, after planting, water it with plenty of water, then cover it with plastic wrap to ensure that the temperature is around 25 degrees and the soil is moist enough.

2. Precautions

1. The soil should be sufficiently breathable and have good drainage.

2. Don't damage its roots when potting it. Change the soil every spring and use a larger pot each time.

3. Water it frequently, but not too much. You can spray water on its leaves. Spray once or twice a day during hot summer months.
