How many years does it take for a fruit tree to bear fruit?

Introduction to Planting Fruit Trees

Various fruit trees have formed their own genetic characteristics, physiological and biochemical properties, ecological types and adaptability ranges during their long evolution. Sunlight is the most fundamental light source for orchard lighting and the main energy source for photosynthesis. It also includes direct radiation and scattering.

Fruit trees are mainly distributed in Ningxia, Xinjiang, Henan, Northeast China, Hebei, Shandong, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Gansu and other places in China. Except for those fruit trees that are easily killed by frost, they are generally planted in late autumn and early winter. The fruit tree varieties include apple trees, pear trees, peach trees, orange trees and so on.

Fruit trees bear fruit after several years of planting

Fruit trees generally start to bear fruit three years after planting, with the peak fruit-bearing period being 4-15 years. The flowering period is from March to April each year, and the fruit ripening period is from August to September each year. Of course, the temperature and planting varieties are different in each place, so the fruit ripening period is different.

Grafted fruit trees bloom and bear fruit

It is best to graft fruit trees in spring as the healing is faster. Grafting in summer and autumn is second best. Generally, you can tell whether the tree will survive in about half a month. The result depends on your scion. If the scion has borne fruit, it will usually take 1-2 years. There are also grafting experts who can graft the tree with fruit.

Potted fruit trees with fruit

Generally speaking, potted fruit trees can bear fruit about 3 years after grafting. If managed properly, peach trees, grapes, and some apricot varieties can bear fruit in the second year after grafting.

Why don't fruit trees bear fruit?

1. The tree is less than 100 years old

Grafted fruit tree seedlings usually start to bear fruit in the 3rd or 4th year, while ungrafted seedlings take 5-6 years to start bearing fruit.

2. Improper management

Due to temperature and ventilation reasons in summer and autumn, more diseases and pests will appear. If the diseases and pests are not controlled in time, the leaves will fall, the tree will not store enough nutrients, and the flower buds will not differentiate well or will not differentiate at all.

3. Improper configuration of pollination trees

Cherries need cross-pollination to bear fruit normally, kiwi and ginkgo trees need male plants for pollination, and triploid apple varieties such as Beidou and Jonathan need double-pollinated trees.

Fruit tree planting technology and key points

Reasonable pruning is required during the growth period of fruit trees. In addition to unleashing the production potential of each fruit tree, it can also make the branches of the entire tree distributed reasonably, coordinate the relationship between the main branches and side branches, extend the fruiting year, and increase fruit yield.
