How long is the growth cycle of a sunflower?

Introduction to Sunflower Growth

Sunflowers mainly grow on dry hillsides, farmland edges, sandy river beaches and grassland depressions. They are mainly distributed in Japan, Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Central Asian countries. The main producing areas in my country include North China, Northeast China, Northwest China, Northwest Sichuan and Tibet north of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.

Sunflower growth cycle

Sunflowers like warm and sunny environments. They are not cold-resistant and avoid heat. They are extremely resistant to barrenness and are suitable for growing in fertile, loose, well-drained sandy loam. They usually bloom in the sun. The stronger the sunlight, the better the flowering. The growth cycle of sunflowers is generally 85-120 days.

Sunflower growth rate

The growth process of sunflower generally includes the seedling stage, bud stage, flowering stage and mature stage. The sunflower grows fast. From seedling to bud, it usually takes about 35-50 days in spring sowing and 28-35 days in summer sowing. It takes about 20 days from bud to flowering. From flowering to maturity, it takes 25-55 days in spring sowing and 25-40 days in summer sowing.

Sunflower growth cycle management

The maximum yield of sunflowers is 30 flowers. If you add yield-increasing fertilizers, you can harvest 60 flowers. Sunflowers grow strongly and require very little management. They can grow well whether they are self-seeded or propagated by cuttings.

Temperature Management

Sunflowers prefer a warm growing environment and grow very fast under higher temperatures. The suitable temperature for growth is 20-30 degrees. If the temperature is slightly higher, it can also grow and develop normally.

Fertilization management

After the budding period, sunflowers need to be sprayed with some foliar fertilizer, mainly nitrogen fertilizer, such as urea, wood ash, etc. The foliar fertilizer is applied directly to the surface of the leaves. Fertilizer is applied about once every two weeks, and no fertilizer is applied during the dormant period.
