Clivia

Reasons for repotting:

Autumn is the season for repotting Clivia, mainly to replace the nutrient soil. In addition, if the Clivia grows very large, you can also change to a larger pot.

Steps to repotting:

1. Before repotting, stop watering for about a week to allow the soil and pot to separate.

2. Hold the bulb of the Clivia with one hand, turn the flowerpot over with the other hand, and gently knock the Clivia out.

3. Pat the soil gently with your hands to remove some loose soil, and then rinse the roots of the Clivia with water.

4. Observe the root system and cut off all the old roots, dead roots, black roots, etc., which are not normal roots.

5. Soak the roots of the Clivia in a solution of carbendazim for disinfection, then take them out and place them in a cool place to dry.

6. Prepare nutrient soil. Generally, the soil for Clivia in autumn can be prepared with a soil mixture of 5 parts garden soil, 3 parts leaf mold, and 2 parts river sand. At the same time, put some melon seeds, slow-release fertilizers, etc. at the bottom of the flowerpot as base fertilizer.

7. Hold the Clivia in the middle of the flowerpot and then fill it with soil.

8. Water thoroughly and place it in a cool and ventilated place for 1 to 2 days to allow the roots to grow slowly, then you can put it in the sun!

Chlorophytum

Reasons for repotting:

If the roots of spider plants grow too fast and the flowerpot is too small, it will affect their normal growth. After a growing season, the nutrients in the soil have been exhausted and new potting soil needs to be replaced.

Repotting steps:

1. Lift the flower pot with your hands and tap it gently on the ground a few times to separate the soil and the flower pot.

2. Remove the spider plant from the pot and gently shake the soil at the roots a few times to let the soil on the root system fall off. Finally, rinse the roots with clean water. By the way, trim off all the roots that have withered and turned black.

3. Prepare new soil, preferably nutrient-rich humus soil, and a flower pot that is larger than the previous one.

4. Bury some well-rotted bean cakes at the bottom of the flowerpot, and then repot the spider plant. Be careful not to let the roots of the spider plant touch the fertilizer at the bottom.

Succulent

Reasons for repotting:

The hot and humid weather in summer can easily cause black rot and root rot in succulents, and once this happens, it is easy to pollute the soil. There are also many mosquitoes in the summer, and some insects will lay eggs in the soil. Therefore, the main purpose of repotting in autumn is to renew the soil.

Repotting steps:

1. Remove the succulents from the pot and clean the roots. Cut off the weaker roots because they will re-root.

2. Prepare the nutrient soil according to the ratio of 60% peat soil + 20% sand + 20% particles. You can use an insect-proof net at the bottom of the flowerpot, or you can put some small stones, expanded clay, etc.

3. Place the succulent in the middle of the flowerpot and slowly fill it with soil.

4. After planting, water thoroughly and then place it in a cool and ventilated place for maintenance.

asparagus

Reasons for repotting:

After a growing season, the original flowerpot for cultivating asparagus fern will be a bit small. At this time, you can consider replacing the asparagus fern with a larger flowerpot.

Repotting steps:

1. Turn the bottom of the flower pot upside down and remove it from the pot.

2. Check the root system of asparagus fern. The root system of asparagus fern in the picture below is very good, and some very thin roots have not turned black.

3. Prepare nutrient soil, ceramsite and pebbles.

4. Place 4.5 cm of expanded clay at the bottom of the flowerpot. If there is no expanded clay, use pebbles.

5. Prepare the soil by mixing nutrient soil, perlite and coarse sand in a ratio of 3:1:1. Because asparagus fern does not like heavy fertilizer, there is no need to put base fertilizer at the bottom.

6. It is best not to plant asparagus fern with bare roots, so bring some original soil and put it into the pot. While adding soil, gently pat the pot so that there are no gaps in the soil.

7. Water thoroughly and place in a cool place for 1 to 2 days to slow down the roots.
