Cactus cultivation precautions

Cactus cultivation precautions

Pay attention to pruning

Every spring when planting, you need to dig out the cactus, clean the soil on the roots, and then cut off all the small roots on the main root one by one, leaving only the main root, and then clean the main root. Place it in a ventilated place for about 1-2 days, then bury it back in the potting soil. In addition, the potting soil can be replaced during the pruning process, which is more conducive to the healthy growth of the cactus.

Replacement of potting soil

When replacing a cactus, some of the old and rotten roots should be cut off. Then place it in a ventilated place for about 4-5 days before planting in a pot. Do not plant too deep, it should be kept level with the soil surface.

To avoid root rot, do not water the newly planted cactus. Just spray it 2-3 times a day. After half a month, increase the amount of watering. After a month, new roots will grow and the amount of watering will be gradually increased.

Breeding points

Cacti can be propagated by cuttings and grafting.

Pest control

Cacti are prone to diseases and pests, especially in the summer when the temperature is high and ventilation is poor. If you encounter diseases, you can spray carbendazim or thiophanate-methyl solution; insect pests can be killed by spraying omethoate. It is best to prevent and control diseases and pests outdoors.
