How often should azalea be watered?

How often should azalea be watered?

In spring, it is usually necessary to water and spray water once a day. In summer, water once every 5 to 7 days. From July to September, water 1 to 2 times a day. From October to December, reduce the amount of watering and keep the soil in a semi-dry and semi-wet state. When watering, it is best to choose rainwater, snow water after standing, and fermented rice water and tea water.

Azalea watering method

1. Observe the potting soil : When watering azalea, it is better to keep it dry than wet, but not too dry. If the weather is relatively dry, the moisture in the potting soil will evaporate quickly. You can water it when the potting soil is relatively dry.

2. Water control in winter : When watering rhododendrons, generally follow the principle of "don't water if the soil is not dry, and water thoroughly if the soil is dry". During the peak growing season, watering is required frequently and spraying is also required. However, in winter when the temperature is relatively low, water must be controlled in time.

Precautions for watering azalea

1. Do not water too much : Because its root system is relatively weak, it is afraid of waterlogging and is not drought-tolerant. Excessive dryness or excessive humidity is not good for the growth of the plant, so the number of watering should be determined according to the influence of weather and temperature.

2. Do not accumulate water : In summer, it is not advisable to water at noon to avoid excessive temperature difference and damage to the roots. Generally, check whether the soil in the pot is dry before deciding to water, and do not accumulate water.

What to do if you water azalea too much

If the leaves turn black and burnt due to excessive watering, it must be due to root rot. At this time, you should quickly change the pot, gently shake off the soil on the roots, and then use scissors to cut off the black roots. After treating the wound, plant it in a new pot and place it in a cool and ventilated place for a period of time to recover.
