Five reasons why azaleas die

Five reasons why azaleas die

1. Poor ventilation

If ventilation is poor for a long time, the azalea will grow weak and suffer from diseases and pests such as red spider mites and aphids. If the situation is serious, it will cause the death of the plant. Therefore, you should pay attention to ventilation and avoid placing it in a too confined place for a long time.

2. Inappropriate light exposure

Azalea needs diffuse light, bright light is enough. If it is exposed to direct sunlight for a long time or is in too much shade for a long time, it will grow poorly, and in severe cases the plant will die. So the lighting conditions need to be improved and given bright diffuse light.

3. Improper watering

The roots of azalea are relatively thin and the root system is relatively dense, so the soil must be moist. Too dry or too wet will have an adverse effect on it, and in severe cases it may cause death. Therefore, water when the soil is dry and water when it is wet, just keep the soil in the pot moist.

4. Improper fertilization

Rhododendrons have many flowers and a relatively weak root system. They like fertilizer but are afraid of concentrated fertilizer. If too much fertilizer is applied at one time or uncomposted fertilizer is used, it may cause the death of the plant. Therefore, apply fertilizer frequently and in small amounts, and use well-rotted fertilizer.

5. No repotting

The root system of azalea is well-developed and weak, and the frequent flowering consumes too much nutrients, so the pot needs to be repotted every year, at least once every 2-3 years. If the plant is not repotted for a long time, its roots will grow denser and denser, causing oxygen deprivation in the soil and accumulation of harmful substances in the soil, leading to the death of the plant. Therefore, it is necessary to change the pot in time.
