What fertilizer to use for gourd topdressing

Gourd has a large demand for fertilizer. In addition to applying base fertilizer, it is also necessary to apply an appropriate amount of topdressing. Topdressing should be applied 1-2 times in stages after harvesting.

The topdressing of gourd should be based on the fertility of the soil in which it grows. Combined with watering, apply soybean bran extract, biological phosphorus, and biological potassium, mixed with manure water and apply once a week.

Should I use urea or compound fertilizer for topdressing gourd?

Use compound fertilizer for topdressing gourds. Pay attention to watering after the gourds are set. It is recommended to apply 30 kg of three-element compound fertilizer per acre. After entering the fruit-setting period, the water and fertilizer requirements will increase, and watering must be done in time. Topdressing is required every 15 days, and 25 to 30 kg of compound fertilizer is required per acre each time.

Gourd topdressing method

If gourd is planted with ground film, it is inconvenient to apply topdressing. Generally, it is necessary to dig holes for topdressing. If a drip irrigation device is installed, topdressing can be combined with watering.

Principles of topdressing for gourd

Top dressing should be applied once every 1-2 batches of gourds are harvested, with 15-20kg of compound fertilizer and 5kg of urea applied per 667m2 to prevent premature aging and increase later yields.

Amount of topdressing for gourd

When planting gourd, it is necessary to apply base fertilizer, 30,000 to 45,000 kg of high-quality decomposed organic fertilizer, 15,000 kg of human feces or 1,500-1,875 kg of cake fertilizer, and 300-400 kg of superphosphate per mu. Since the growth potential of gourd is weak and its growth period is short, in addition to applying base fertilizer, gourd also needs to be topdressed.

Precautions for topdressing gourd

Applying top dressing 1-2 times in stages after harvesting gourd can promote its growth. Gourd requires relatively more water and can be watered once every 1-2 days during the fruiting period. Top dressing of gourd should be based on soil fertility and combined with watering. 10-15 days after planting gourd, poles should be inserted and trellises should be set up. When 4-6 true leaves grow, spray 1.5-6 ethephon on the leaves.
