When is the best time to repot the Weeping Guanyin? Repotting methods and precautions

Time to change the pot of the weeping angel

The weeping angel needs to be repotted, preferably in spring and autumn, avoiding the low temperatures in winter to prevent frostbite on the roots, which are difficult to recover once frozen. Usually, the pot needs to be repotted once a year. Before repotting, water less and keep the soil dry, so that it is easier to remove the pot.

How to repot the Weeping Avalokitesvara

1. Remove the pot and prune the roots

Stop watering the weeping angel two days before repotting. When the soil is slightly dry, remove the plant from the pot, scrape off some of the soil attached to the roots with your hands, trim the dry and rotten fibrous roots, and place it in a cool, well-ventilated place to dry the roots.

2. Replace the potting soil

Place two tiles at the drainage hole at the bottom of the pot, and place a layer of ceramsite at the bottom of the pot as a drainage layer. Then fill in new soil, mix a handful of organic fertilizer into the soil at the bottom of the pot as base fertilizer, bury the treated weeping angel in the soil, and compact the soil with your hands.

3. Repotting and maintenance

After repotting the weeping angel, you need to water it thoroughly. This is called rooting watering. Then place the pot in a cool and ventilated place to slow down the growth. After a week, slowly increase the light intensity. Usually, weigh the weight of the soil in the pot with your hand. If it becomes lighter, water it in time.

Things to note when repotting the Weeping Guanyin

1. Be careful when repotting the Weeping Angelica so as not to damage the healthy roots and leaves. Do not fertilize immediately after repotting. Wait until it has basically recovered its normal growth before applying thin fertilizers frequently.

2. If the roots of the weeping angel are injured when repotting, the leaves will wilt. This is not caused by lack of fertilizer. You need to give it time to recover. When it has almost recovered, you can place it in a place with diffuse light for maintenance.

3. The juice in the body of the weeping angel is poisonous. If you accidentally break the plant when repotting, do not directly contact the white latex with your hands. It is best to wear gloves throughout the process of repotting.
