Ginger Introduction

Ginger is the rhizome of the ginger plant of the ginger family, with a height of 40-100 cm. Ginger is also known as white ginger and Sichuan ginger. Common varieties include Laiwu small ginger, Laiwu big ginger, sparse-wheeled large ginger, Shannong big ginger No. 2, Shannong big ginger No. 1, Lu ginger No. 1, dense-wheeled fine ginger, Laifeng ginger, Tongling white ginger, Nanshan ginger, Sichuan bamboo root ginger, etc.

Ginger Planting Conditions

Ginger is originally distributed in the tropical regions of Southeast Asia. It likes a warm, humid and sunny environment. It is not cold-resistant or drought-resistant and can only grow in the frost-free period. The suitable growth temperature is between 25-28 degrees, and the temperature must not be lower than 20 degrees.

Climate and Temperature for Ginger Planting

Ginger likes a warm environment. Ginger can only grow under high temperature conditions. The temperature suitable for germination is 16-18 degrees. Ginger develops rapidly between 20-27 degrees. The most suitable temperature for growth and development is 25 to 32 degrees. Temperatures below 15 degrees or above 35 degrees are not conducive to growth and development.

Suitable areas for growing ginger

Ginger cannot tolerate strong sunlight exposure and is suitable for growing under dim light. Ginger is produced all over the country, mainly in Sichuan, Guizhou and other places, and the quality is also good. Ginger is mainly distributed in the central and eastern, southeastern and southwestern parts of China, including Laifeng, Tongshan, Yangxin, Echeng, Xianning and Tongling.

Ginger planting time

Ginger is usually sown in spring from April to May and can be harvested in autumn. Ground planting requires row sowing, 500 kg per mu, add some base fertilizer to the soil, and then plant it after watering. The potted method is to cut the ginger with buds into small pieces, place it in a ventilated place to dry, cover it with soil after planting, and water it thoroughly once. Be careful not to maintain it under strong light.

Ginger Planting Benefits

The cost of producing ginger per mu is about 7,000 yuan, of which 3,800 yuan is labor cost and 3,200 yuan is material cost. Generally, the output per mu is about 1,500 kilograms. The market purchase price of ginger is about 16 yuan per catty. The output value per mu is 10,000-12,000 yuan, and the net profit is about 5,000 yuan. The specific profit depends on the actual situation of the year.
