Can mangoes be grown in the north?

Mangoes can be grown in the north, but they can only be grown in greenhouses because mangoes need a high temperature environment to grow. It is difficult to achieve the required temperature environment if they are grown in the open in the north, and they can easily freeze to death in winter.

Mango is a tropical fruit that mainly grows on hillsides, river valleys and wilderness at an altitude of 200-1500 meters. It is currently widely cultivated around the world. The temperature in the coldest month where it grows is greater than 15℃.

How to grow mango in the north

1. Temperature: Mango likes to grow in a high temperature environment. The plant is not very drought-resistant. The suitable temperature for growth is 24-27℃. The ambient temperature should not exceed 37℃, but it should not be lower than 15℃, otherwise the fruit will develop slowly.

2. Water: Mango requires sufficient water during its growth period. Its branches and leaves have sufficient water storage capacity and are relatively drought-resistant. The annual rainfall in the planting area is best at around 700mm, but the water should not be too much, otherwise it will be detrimental to flowering and fruiting.

3. Light: Mangoes prefer high temperature and sufficient light. Adequate light is conducive to the plant's photosynthesis and promotes nutrient accumulation. The longer the light time, the more conducive it will be to the accumulation of sugar in the fruit.
