What soil is suitable for growing rice?

Introduction to Rice

Rice is a cereal crop of the genus Oryza. It has many varieties, which can be divided into indica rice and japonica rice, early rice and mid-late rice, glutinous rice and non-glutinous rice. It is an important food crop that prefers a warm and rainfall-rich environment. Its production areas are mainly concentrated in the Yangtze River Basin, the Pearl River Basin, and the Northeast.

Rice is suitable for cultivation in soil that is rich in humus, loose and has good drainage.

What soil is used to grow rice?

Different soil textures have different supply conditions. Loose-textured tidal mud fields and yellow sandy mud fields have good permeability, and the soil temperature rises quickly in early spring, allowing fertilizer to decompose quickly. They have strong fertilizer supply capacity in the early stages, but poor fertilizer retention capacity, and fertilizer is easily lost, making the fertilizer effect short-lived. In the later stages of rice growth, the soil's fertilizer supply capacity weakens.

Mountain mud: The soil is rich in humus, fertile, loose, acidic, with good drainage and air permeability. Huangshan mud is heavier and contains less humus. It is best to use black mountain mud, which is also the matrix for acid-loving flowers such as camellia, orchid, and azalea.
