Is the yield of yacon high? What is the yield per mu?

Does Yacon have a high yield?

The yield of yacon is very high. The actual yield per mu can reach more than 8,000 jin, and the highest can reach 10,000 kilograms. However, the specific yield is still related to the planting time of the plant and the climate of the planting area.

How to plant yacon to get high yield

1. Site selection and land preparation

The best place to plant yacon is sandy loam with convenient irrigation and drainage. Before planting, about 4,000-6,000 kilograms of farmyard manure should be applied per acre of land. You can also add an appropriate amount of quicklime to prevent underground pests.

2. Planting

1,100 yacon plants can be planted per acre of land. Water and weed when the seedlings are 20 cm tall. Increase the amount of watering appropriately when the weather is dry, and pay attention to drainage during the rainy season.

3. Plastic and pruning

After the yacon tree takes root, you can start pruning it, cutting off all the dense and overgrown branches. There is no need to use chemical fertilizers and pesticides in the later stage, but plants that grow too weak should be watered with some manure water.

4. Carry out excavation

It can be harvested around October. After the flowers wither, the yacon can be stored in the cellar. The stems and leaves of the plant can also be used as feed.
